In November 2012, I was lucky enough to assist London Based Photographer Mark Nicholson at a big event in Harrogate. It was at a private (but substantial) birthday party at the Royal Hall in the Centre of Harrogate and I got to assist!

Mark is a successful Commercial Photographer and although he is based in London, he travels all over the world for his work.

I took a look at Mark’s Website and it is simple yet effective. His home page shows his name, address, portfolio categories and has a slideshow of his work on a loop.

This makes it easy to navigate, as you can either run through the whole thing from beginning to end or you can select which picture you would like to view at a time.

There are some really strong images on Mark’s site. His three portfolio categories are: Interiors & Lifestyle, Hotels and Events. My favourite images are:

The above image is the interior of a houseboat and it looks amazing. This interior could have come straight out of good homes magazine – I want to live there!

I love these images because of the beautiful colours. Blue is prominent in these pictures, yet we see various shades of blue. The scene looks so calm and peaceful and the holiday has been sold to me before I even know where it is!

I love this image of the Empire State Building as it is so different and makes you look at it from another point of view. This building has been photographed so many times, it’s really refreshing to see it shown in a different way.

Mark also has a profile page on his website. I think a profile page or about me page is essential on a photographer’s website as it gives the potential client a glimpse of the person they will be working with.

I have emailed Mark to ask him about his website and I will post the answers here if I get a reply!
